On September 16, 2023, the jury for the FotoDoc Photo Contest 2024 gathered in person at Panamericana School of Art and Design in São Paulo. The panel was composed of Érico Elias, artistic director of the FotoDoc Festival; Elcio Ohnuma, photography coordinator at Panamericana School; as well as curator Mônica Maia and photographers Karime Xavier and Marlene Bérgamo, invited guests for the 2024 edition of the festival. The jurors evaluated 60 finalist projects and selected 17 winners.
Fabio Teixeira was named the Overall Winner of the FotoDoc Photo Contest 2024 with his portfolio Between Life and Death on the Streets—a poignant and powerful account of the immense daily struggles faced by those trying to survive while living on the streets and making a living through recycling in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). For his work, Teixeira will receive a custom-designed trophy created exclusively for the award.
