On September 12, 2025, the Jury of the FotoDoc Photo Contest 2025 gathered in person at the Panamericana School of Art and Design, in São Paulo. The panel was composed of Érico Elias, Artistic Director of the FotoDoc Festival, Elcio Ohnuma, Head of Photography at the Panamericana School, along with Érico Hiller, Ivana Debértolis, and Mônica Zarattini, guest jurors of the 2025 edition. The jurors reviewed 60 finalist works and selected 25 winners.
Márcio Vasconcelos was awarded the Grand Prize of the FotoDoc Photo Contest 2025 for his portfolio Wizards and Healers: Bantu Magic between Africa, Cuba, and Maranhão, which revives the shared imagination of an ancient Africa reinterpreted in Cuba and Brazil, through a dense, thoughtful, and poetic record of popular religions of African origin. For this work, Vasconcelos will receive a trophy specially designed for the award by visual artist Henrique Rien.
The other winners chosen by the Jury were Natalija Gormalova and Nilmar Lage in the Portfolio category; Ana Palacios, Araz, Francisco Fresneda, Melissa Ianniello, Patrick Arley, Sabrina Moura, and Vinicius Xavier in the Essay category; and Adriana Muñoz, Bruna Braz, Bruno Corisco, Dinho Rocha, Fernanda Eisfeld, Irina Ebralidze, Javier Goded, Júlia Braga, Juliana Bizzo, Maria Eugenia Nabuco, Martin Rojas, Mi’saw Zàwàruhu, nilo2anjos, Noilton Pereira, and Rodolfo Paz in the Single Image category.
