“empty nest” reflects on the cycles of life, transformation, and enduring bonds. Through poetic double exposures and intimate staged scenes, the series explores the passage from one stage to another: how we change, yet nothing truly disappears, only shifts in form… Nature frames this journey, offering solace, continuity, and reflection on where we come from and where we are going…
The series also examines friendship and intergenerational connections: two women navigate absence, reading letters to their sons, holding one another, and tracing personal histories, like the letter from my mother I see in the mirror from the day I left Georgia for Germany. Empty Nest is a meditation on care, loss, memory, and renewal, inviting the viewer to experience transformation as a space of intimacy and hope.
