Sungsoo Lee

Sungsoo Lee is a South Korean photographer and visual artist whose work explores themes of transience, social change, and the unseen in everyday life. From 2013 to 2023, he studied art with a focus on photography at the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) in Offenbach, graduating with a diploma.
His photographic practice centers on documenting social and spatial transformations. In “Kwangmyeong New-Town” (2021), he captured the impact of large-scale urban redevelopment in South Korea. “Hugo-Junkers Str.” (2022) explores an abandoned industrial site in Frankfurt, reflecting on its architectural heritage and links to Egon Eiermann. His project “Alles reduziert!” (2023) addresses the consequences of depopulation in South Korea by photographing deserted university campuses, offering a reflection on memory and loss in a changing society.
Lee has exhibited his work in several solo and group shows, including “Alles reduziert!” at the Zollamt Galerie Offenbach (2023), “Kwangmyeong New-Town” at BOX HfG Offenbach (2021), and “Spedition 2.0” at Remisengalerie Schloss Philippsruhe Hanau (2022).
