While researching my family’s oral history, I learned that my great-grandfather had killed a tiger and also he is a freedom fighter during razakar time period in India. My grandfather is also a freedom fighter. And my father is doing wrestling in the initial days. And I m just Tracing the oral histories and how I compared myself and my identity which I questioned myself. This story is remembered in my family as a symbol of strength and bravery. This discovery influenced my work deeply. I created an anthropomorphic animal mask inspired by this story and began making self-portrait photographs using it. Through these images, I explore my own search for identity.
As a queer person, I have become more aware of how masculinity shapes family relationships and social behavior. The mask helps me question traditional ideas of manhood and allows me to reimagine masculinity in a more personal and inclusive way.
This project I do complete in year 2025 under Mirrors fellowship which work on Masculinity followed by maraa collective, banglore. And this exibition will be in upcoming month March 2026.
